Wins & Failing Well – Deborah Graybosch

by Deborah Graybosch

1. Describe a significant personal or professional recent win and/or how you failed well?

I completed SQL for Data Science course from UC-Davis with a passing grade of 99.56. Can you believe they now take grades out two decimal places. LOL

2. When did this happen?

08/21/2023

3. What did you learn from this experience?

Learning a new programming language is challenging. It doesn’t come easy to me and that is a new experience. Fear of failing is where I started this journey. I am by no means an expert in SQL (not even close) but I am growing from the experience as frustrating as it is sometimes. Very grateful for the opportunity to learn new skills and will continue down this learning path as it keeps me humble and energized.

4. How did this impact your Growth Edges?

I don’t much like to celebrate me…my southern upbringing I guess. So even putting this as a “small win” is uncomfortable for me. But I am a life-long learner and this is an area where I can and need to improve so I am pushing ahead and stretching. I still am not very good at it so onward I go to the next course!

Many thanks, and congratulations Deborah!!!

congrats on diving into something uncomfortable, and being willing to overcome your humility and celebrate yourself a little bit for what you accomplished.
