Great Morning Team,
This past year has been an incredible year of learning, discovery, and growth for many of us. We had the courage to try and test new Practices, the work of our Practice Teams produced some wonderful tools, programs, and learnings for us to utilize as well. We built greater connections and safe spaces in our Boat Crews, and Boat Buddy Triads, and we learned what we could do better to ensure that our Growth Culture becomes more meaningful; a culture that we could all FEEL within our daily work, routines, and conversations, in the spirit of “Development as a Team Sport”.
We are on an exciting journey to amplify our culture even more so this year, creating additional structures for the sharing of ideas, discoveries, and deeper connections, along with our initiatives of manager training and skillful and effective communication training. While we are full steam ahead, it is important to look at where we are and where we want and need to be, along with progress we have made, as we continue to transform into our Deliberately Developmental Organization (DDO).
This time last year, we partnered with The Developmental Edge (TDE) to administer our first-ever DDO surveys: Growth Culture Indicator (GCI) and Levels of Development for a Population (LPOP) Surveys. You may also recall Andy and Tom and our discussion of these survey results during last year’s meeting at Better Together.
For those of you who may not be familiar with TDE, they are the leading expert in DDO cultural development and empower companies to unlock individual and organizational potential by helping to better integrate people development into everyday culture. They are a research and consulting firm, co-founded by Chief Knowledge Officers, Dr. Robert Kegan, Dr. Lisa Lahey, and Chief Executive Officer, Andy Fleming. All are co-authors of the extended whitepaper that we’ve all read: The Deliberately Developmental Organization. Additionally, they are the authors of the DDO itself based on their book, An Everyone Culture: Becoming a Deliberately Developmental Organization.
We are excited to share that we will be collecting a second round of data to measure possible growth in our collective development and culture and build upon our progress since last year’s meeting at Better Together!
The first survey TDE will be sending–The Growth Culture Indicator® (GCI)–will give us a rich picture of the degree to which our current everyday culture supports our on-going growth and development (i.e. how nutritious is our “water”). The second survey – The Levels of Development in a Population (LPOP®)–provides insight into how developmentally strong we are as an organization. (i.e. how healthy are our “fish”).
Tom Coker from TDE will be sending out our GCI survey to all staff on the morning of Wednesday, February 14th with the subject line, “E&I: Invitation to complete the Growth Culture Indicator® (GCI).” Then, on Wednesday, February 28th, Tom will send out our LPOP survey, with the subject line, “E&I: Invitation to complete the LPOP® Organizational Survey.”
We hope you will consider participating in both surveys. All we ask for is your candid feedback. We are eager to learn what the surveys reveal and to use the information to help us better design the way we work and grow to become Better Together. 😊
Please know that The Developmental Edge® will safeguard your confidentiality; they take that commitment extremely seriously. No one at E&I will have access to any individual data or be able to trace any responses back to specific people.
We plan to review and discuss the results from both surveys, as well as comparisons between this year and last year’s results at our Better Together meeting in May.
Thank you in advance for your consideration, time, participation, and insights to help us all grow, develop, and become Better Together!
Wishing you all a Better We, Better Week! 😊
Lori Beth
